The assumption of economic linear progression

In, studying economic progression in correlation to the economic progress of black Americans; I concluded that there is an assumption of economic linear progression as all populations don’t develop along a sequential path.

This assumption has led to the implementation of the attack and denigration of diversity, equity, and inclusion policies. As it’s assumed that all Americans have equal opportunity of economic progression, and or merit. Which is false!

Let’s explore this assumption!

Firstly, lets understand what an assumption is, along with what economic progression is balancing perspectives on Oliver Cox’s world-systems theory and W. W. Rostow’s model of the Stages of Growth. The balancing of these perspective works isn’t to refute, confute, or be fractious. The balance is simply to understand the different perspectives as they relate to economic value.

An assumption is to think something is real and true regardless of knowledge, understanding, or final evidence. Economic progression means the continuous improvement of a society’s financial well-being; combining quantitative expansion with qualitative enhancement. The practice of economic development: working to improve economic prosperity is based on this concept.

Theoretical framework

The focus of the study is to expose the gap between the assumption of economic linear progression and actual economic progression. I will personally use this research to develop phlegmatic concepts to close the gaps, and organizations from those concepts to create economic value. I will not use the research to study the economic affects on sociogenic brain damage, even though it’s a byproduct of economic deprivation. That would cause hysteria!

Rostow’s Stages of Growth model is focused on the concept of free trade as the driver of economic progression, while Oliver Cox’s world-systems model focused on utilizing interconnected economies to create economic value.

Economic Progression

The concept of economic progression refers to the evolutionary stages through which goods and services transition, altering their intrinsic worth and influencing market dynamics. This idea underscores the transformation from basic commodities to more sophisticated economic offerings. By understanding this progression, businesses can adapt and thrive in a rapidly changing economic landscape, harnessing opportunities for innovation and growth.

The progression of economic value can be broken down into several stages, each representing a shift in how products and services are perceived and valued. Initially, goods are seen as commodities, indistinguishable from one another, priced mainly by weight or volume. As businesses differentiate these goods through branding and quality enhancements, they transform into goods and services, offering customers more value and allowing companies to charge premium prices.

In today’s economy, progression has further evolved, with experiences and transformations being the pinnacle stages. Experiences engage customers personally and emotionally, while transformations involve profound changes in the consumer’s life. This progression not only increases the economic value but also strengthens the bond between businesses and consumers, fostering loyalty and long-term relationships.

The Evolution of Economic Value

Historically, the economic value of goods and services has evolved significantly. During the agricultural era, economies were primarily commodity-based, with value derived from the cultivation and trade of raw materials. The industrial revolution marked a significant shift, as manufacturing and the mass production of goods became the primary economic drivers, increasing accessibility and affordability.

As the 20th century progressed, the service economy emerged, driven by technological advancements and the globalization of markets. This transition highlighted the importance of service delivery and customer satisfaction, emphasizing convenience and efficiency. Businesses started to focus on enhancing customer experiences, recognizing the growing consumer demand for personalized and immediate service.

In recent decades, the experience economy has taken center stage. Companies now aim to create memorable experiences, differentiating themselves by offering unique and engaging interactions. This shift underscores the importance of emotional connections and personalized offerings, as consumers increasingly seek value beyond the mere functionality of products and services.

Key Examples of Economic Value Progression

The progression of economic value can be illustrated through various examples across different industries. One prominent example is the coffee industry. Initially, coffee was a mere commodity, sold in bulk at low prices. As time progressed, brands like Starbucks transformed coffee into an experience, creating a unique ambiance and offering personalized beverages, thus elevating its economic value significantly.

The automotive industry provides another compelling example. Cars were once considered luxury items, accessible only to the wealthy. However, as manufacturing processes improved, vehicles became more affordable and widespread. Today, car manufacturers focus on creating experiences, offering advanced technology, and eco-friendly options, thereby enhancing their economic value and appeal.

In the realm of technology, progression is evident in the evolution of computers. Once bulky and expensive machines were used primarily by businesses, personal computers have become central to everyday life. Companies like Apple have further pushed this progression by creating experiences around their products, integrating them seamlessly into users’ lifestyles, and fostering brand loyalty.

How Economic Value Progression Impacts Businesses

The progression of economic value significantly impacts businesses, influencing their strategies, operations, and market positioning. Companies that recognize and adapt to these changes can gain a competitive advantage, while those that fail to evolve may struggle to remain relevant. Understanding this progression enables businesses to identify new opportunities for growth and innovation.

Businesses must continuously assess their offerings to ensure they align with consumer expectations and preferences. This requires a deep understanding of market trends and a willingness to invest in innovation and technology. By doing so, companies can create unique and memorable experiences that resonate with their target audience, driving customer loyalty and long-term success.

Moreover, the progression of economic value encourages a shift from a transactional mindset to one focused on building relationships. By engaging customers on a personal level and delivering exceptional experiences, businesses can foster trust and loyalty, leading to increased brand advocacy and repeat business.

The Importance of Innovation in Economic Value Progression

Innovation is a critical driver of economic value progression, enabling businesses to differentiate themselves and capture new markets. By fostering a culture of creativity and experimentation, companies can develop groundbreaking products and services that resonate with consumers and drive economic advancement.

Innovation allows businesses to stay ahead of market trends and respond to changing consumer demands. It encourages the exploration of new ideas and the development of cutting-edge technologies, ultimately leading to enhanced offerings and increased economic value. Companies that prioritize innovation are well-positioned to thrive in a competitive landscape.

Furthermore, innovation fosters collaboration and partnership, enabling businesses to leverage external expertise and resources.

Conclusion

In conclusion there is no such thing as economic linear progression as the progression of economic value presents numerous opportunities, it also poses several challenges. Understanding and navigating these challenges is crucial for societies seeking to capitalize on systems that build economic progress.

This requires a deep understanding of market trends and a willingness to invest in research and development to continuously innovate and adapt to the age of high mass consumption. As businesses expand globally and technology continues to evolve, companies must navigate a complex web of regulations, cultural differences, and competitive pressures.
